Assistant Manager-Project Coordinator
(Commencing Immediately)
LOCATION: 1202 Pembroke Street East, with frequent travel throughout RCDSB
HOURS PER WEEK: 35 hours per week
SUMMARY: Reporting to the Manager of Facility Services, the position of Assistant Manager-Project Coordinator manages daily operational requirements and maintenance initiatives across the District which include both preventive and corrective maintenance of structural, mechanical, electrical and energy systems. The Project Coordinator also oversees a variety of operational and capital projects. Key responsibilities include supervision of staff, project planning, budgeting, purchasing, monitoring and follow up.
RATE OF PAY: $91,271 – $109,018
Qualifications and Experience:
- Successful completion of post-secondary in a related field (e.g. Architecture, Building Sciences, Project Management)
- Two to four years of related progressive experience managing projects in MUSH sector
- Demonstrated experience supervising and coordinating the daily work activities of a unionized and non-unionized workforce with an emphasis on safety, operational efficiency and cost effectiveness
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic/experience requirements
- A valid Ontario driver's license and provision of own transportation is required
- Proven leadership skills with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment;
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing long range asset preservation and asset management strategies, plans, procedures and standards
- Developing and implementing budgets
- Act as the Technical Authority to manage ongoing maintenance and efficient operation of all electrical and mechanical systems, equipment and legal documents/contracts
- Plan, organize, coordinate and provide leadership for the completion of capital projects
- Recommend policies and/or procedures pertinent to energy, electrical, mechanical and environmental disciplines
- Monitor and evaluate the work performed by contractors; follow up on deficiencies
- Conduct building and site inspections
- Complete annual Green Energy Act reporting
- Monitor federal/provincial incentive programs and follow through with applications and implementation where applicable
- Provide technical and project management expertise, training and guidance to various internal and external stakeholders; which includes serving on committees and making presentations
- Supervise, coordinate, allocate and review the work of custodial and/or trades staff while ensuring that employees are provided with and use the appropriate training and /or procedures, equipment, material to perform assigned duties
- Ensure that employees perform work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations and all Corporate/Departmental policies and procedures.

- Other duties as assigned
